Thank You GLMA for A Wonderful Day Of Learning, Sharing & Celebrating With All Of You

Earlier this week I traveled to Peachtree City, Georgia to the GLMA Summer Institute with lots of wonderful teacher librarians and dear friends.
It was one of the best ways to kick off my summer of learning, sharing and celebrating.
I started the day with my keynote...
Be The Change You Want To See.
We talked about the changes we are seeing in libraries, schools, librarianship and education.

We also focused on student voice as I shared stories, celebrations and individual student voices.
My day at the GLMA Summer Institute was sponsored by Cantata Learning and Jim Boon with Capstone.  To celebrate, I brought lots of beautiful Cantata books to give away.

I tried something new this time.  I used the little QR code Twitter trick that my friend Matt Croyle taught me at TLA.  You can read all about it here.
Once I flashed the slide with the QR code on it, everyone pulled out their phones to scan the code.
It was so much fun seeing all of the tweets that were sent to show our Cantata love.
And even more fun giving away so many wonderful books and songs.
They were happy too.
I loved seeing the series Internet DOs and DON'Ts I wrote with Rosen Publishing.

These are part of the conversation we have about digital literacy and citizenship within my keynote.
They are an important part of collections within Georgia schools and libraries.
I was inspired at GLMA, just as they were inspired.
This is an important reminder for all us as we dive into summer learning and reflect on the year before.
Whatever you do, remember this..

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

These changes will create change and make a difference.
